For 2015, China: Through the Looking Glass, presented by The Costume Institute in collaboration with the Department of Asian Art, highlighted the inspirational and alluring aesthetics of the Chinese culture in tribute to it's consistent impact on the West. In particular, according to exhibit, "The exhibition's subtitle, Through the Looking Glass, translates into Chinese as "moon in the water," a phrase that alludes to Buddhism. This phrase suggests something that cannot be grasped and has both positive and negative connotations. When used to describe a beautiful object, "moon in the water" can refer to a quality of perfection that is either so elusive and mysterious that the item becomes transcendent or so illusory and deceptive that it becomes untrustworthy....." It only takes one glance at the luxurious styles created by designers such as Yves Saint Laurent, Jean Paul Gaultier and Valentino, showcased throughout the exhibition, to realize how the title perfectly depicts each masterpiece at this celebration. These designers have created alluring ensembles with decadent detail, enticing hues, and ornate orientation of various materials. The almost too-good-to-be-true luxury and elegance of each piece transcends onlookers into traditional China of the past without leaving the twenty-first century. In case you were unable to attend the lavish affair of China: Through The Looking Glass at the MET Gala, we at March Boutique invite you to live vicariously through our experience of the exhibit as well as the inspiration that we have brought back to the store. Amazing fashion show presented by Herve Leger by Max Aria. Beautiful fall collection! And, Tracy Reese! At the Tracy Reese post show activity with actress Maddy Trumble and the talented Tracy Reese. It was so much fun to be included in the annual Briarcliff Manor Garden Club Fundraiser held at Sleepy Hollow Country Club! Thank you to all our Models (Garden Club members) who strutted down the runway wearing fashions from our Fall Collections. Looking beautiful ladies! Behind the scenes... And, a special thank you to the wonderful staff at MARCH ! "I have been fortunate enough to immerse myself in beauty so surreal that I cannot help but want to share through my designs" - Rachel Turzer Designer Rachel Turzer is certainly new to the fashion scene, launching her brand, Kora Rae, in 2013. However, her business' novelty has given her the ability to develop a truly authentic, worldly perspective that is anything but traditional. Rooted in Connecticut, a percentage of the company's proceeds are donated to Branson, Missouri's National Tiger Sanctuary. Committed to a certain cultural awareness in her contemporary silhouettes for the modern woman, Turzer compares her designs to "wearable art." This stems from her use of fine european silks and leathers with the handiwork of local NYC craftsmen as well as that of the craftsmen of the Dasbagha village in Eastern India. We are so thrilled to be the only store in Westchester to carry this fab designer. You can find Turzer's beautiful and unique designs at MARCH now!
Hello MARCH goers! This week we are so excited to boast the success of our most recent "Catwalk for a Cause." Every so often, MARCH holds a fashion show to benefit a deserving organization. As many of you might know, Make-A-Wish grants the wish of a child diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Ladies spiced up Main Street last weekend as they walked in Tracy Reese, BB Dakota and other MARCH designers. Beforehand, attendees enjoyed refreshments courtesy of our lovely neighbor, Good Food. We hope to see you next time! |
