The second look is much less busy print wise, and for this reason, a lot of jewelry won't take away from the outfit. A simple dark wash jean and patterned blouse always are a go-to for the fall. And this studded utility jacket from BB Dakota is the perfect jacket to keep you warm on the chillier days, especially with its soft lining. The studs add a fun element to the jacket and make it more unique than all of the other utility jackets that are trending this fall. The bag we paired with the outfit also has studs on it to keep with the theme. We added a lot of fun black and gold accessories that go with the black and white houndstooth blouse to complete the look.
As unsure as I am about how the term "stud muffin" ever came to be (which is extremely unsure...did someone put studs on a muffin and think it looked good? Was the muffin even edible anymore?), I am sure about how much we love studded jackets here, at MARCH, for the fall. The studs add flare to would-be-ordinary jackets. The first look revolves around the ornate detailing on both the cropped jacket as well as the baroque pattern of the Cynthia Steffe Briella dress. The dress is form fitting and highlights the waist to create a flattering silhouette. The studded jacket maintains the edgy look of the dress with the red and black palette. Because of the bold character of the dress, minimal accessories are needed. Adding a simple clutch and ring are the only things you need. Arm candy is a growing trend, especially with the younger generation; however, there are certain outfits where you can eighty-six the arm party and stick with a simple bracelet. It's like saying you can never have too much of _________ (fill in the blank) but I can attest to the falsity of that idiom: I am currently eating out of an endless box of Godiva chocolates and I know that I've had too much...the only issue is that I can't stop. With accessories, though, you can over do it and when you reach that point, it begins to detract from the outfit.

One of the biggest trends this coming fall, and even this summer, is leather. Whether its genuine leather, or pleather, this trend is here to stay. This material is popular not only as a bag or staple jacket, but as detailing in sweaters, pants, dresses and anything else, you name it. Having leather iPhone cases is even trendy now...because, of course, who doesn't have an iPhone these days (excluding people in finance who think Blackberries are cooler, I mean more useful...). The first look revolves around this gorgeous Nicole Miller Kendall Dress. The side ruching creates a fitted look that hugs and accentuates the waistline–something all women can appreciate. The cowl neck is also a unique detail of the dress, but the best part of it (and reason why it's included in this post) is the leather trimming on the shoulders. Because of the heavy pattern of the dress, over accessorizing can weaken this dress rather than enhance it and make a complete outfit of it. Because of this, we stuck with simple, yet eye catching, earrings, cocktail ring, and necklace. We also added a fun bracelet that still maintains a delicate feel. Finally, an MZ Wallace over-the-shoulder bag to carry everything, or you can switch it out for a more elegant clutch for a night out.
Who doesn't love a cozy sweater for the fall? Especially with a dark wash jean. In the second outfit shown, we chose a DV by Dolce Vita marled sweater that has perhaps not the most practical pockets on the front, but who cares about practicality when the pockets are trimmed with [faux] leather. The leather continues, once again, on the shoulder. For the cooler days when a sweater just one cut it, we paired a Gracia suede-like moto jacket that is extremely soft and warm for the fall. To add color to this monotone outfit, a fun colored scarf or belt can do the trick. To top it all off, we chose simple gold accessories like this gold and clear TKO watch and easy bangles. Though I can't suggest taking fashion advice from Alice in Wonderland's Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum unless you're trying to come up with a halloween costume, I can tell you that they unknowingly have been trend forecasters since they were created in 1865. Tweed is hopping on the fall fashion train, accompanying the leather and bold print trend for the ride. Both looks feature this fashion forward Trina Turk tweed pattern with leather detailing. In the first outfit, a simple dark wash straight leg jean and Skinny Tee are paired together with a classic black jean belt. The tweed moto-style jacket spices up the outfit, especially with the leather piping. The muted orange, beige, and green hues give this look a warm, fall feel. Adding a simple necklace, like this small Rachel Abrom's coin necklace, a TKO watch, and a black bag completes the ensemble. With a new delivery of suede bags by Izzy and Ali, we have plenty from you to choose from!
The second outfit is perfect for work or a meeting. The modest yet edgy Trina Turk tweed skirt is easily worn with a white blouse, like this Byron Lars sheer blouse with a fitted bottom and button detailing. Now if you plan on wearing this outfit to work, I may suggest pinning the blouse (a very strong suggestion) considering the low cowl neck of the shirt. With black flats, or heels, and great accessories, like this tortoise shell link necklace and gold bangle, ring, and earrings, this outfit is almost complete. Just to add a touch of color, a bold clutch or tote in a fall tone tops off the skirt and blouse ensemble for an essential fall look! As I began to write this post, I had some serious doubts about the spelling of "grey." Of course I had to consult others to get their opinion and naturally, not until I did some internet research could I then reach my final decision. According to dictionary.reference.com, both grey and gray are hues between black and white. So without really clearing any of my confusion up, I decided to stick with the spelling that E. L. James has chosen for her soon-to-be-movie book, Fifty Shades of Grey (I'm still confused as to how that's going to turn out...do I even want to know? Does anyone even want to know?) Black and white are both staples in everyones wardrobe because they go with just about everything, except black with brown and (occasionally) navy. As the saying goes: black and blue shall never be seen unless inside my washing machine! With boxes upon boxes of fall clothes that arrive daily, we have great black and white pieces, and every shade of grey between the two. This black Bailey 44 leather paneled pencil skirt is a great piece for this fall-adding that edgy look that is very popular this year while maintaining class by not being too showy or short. Adding some color to the outfit is the beige sleeveless blouse by Harlyn with pink detailing. To keep with the greyscale, this black clutch with bow clasp adds a sweet element to the outfit that compliments the blouse. To top off the outfit, gold cuffs and bangles are the perfect arm candy and the chunky gold chain necklace ties the whole piece together.
The Trina Turk top covers every single shade between black and white. The Joseph Ribkoff leopard legging/pants fit everyone perfectly. The high rise is easy to disguise and fun print is subtle yet creates a fun element that sets these pants apart from other grey/black pants. This black MZ Wallace bag is a classic, and goes with just about everything; however, the red detailing adds some color to the grey outfit. Simply jewelry goes well with this patterned ensemble, so a wrap bracelet with a purple hue and chain necklace both go well with this outfit! |
